Tracking Anthropic Costs by Company

Anthropic's API doesn't have a project system like OpenAI, so company tracking works differently.

How It Works

Anthropic reports usage at the organization level. All API calls using keys from your organization are aggregated together.

For company tracking, you have two options:

  1. Separate API accounts - Create a separate Anthropic account for each company
  2. Default company assignment - Attribute all usage to one company per provider

Option 1: Separate Accounts (Recommended)

For accurate per-company tracking:

  1. Create an Anthropic account for each company (or have them create their own)
  2. Connect each account as a separate provider in Administrate.dev
  3. Set the default company on each provider

This gives you complete cost separation and accurate attribution.

Setting Up Multiple Accounts

  1. Go to LLM Providers
  2. Click Add Provider
  3. Select Anthropic
  4. Name it after the company (e.g., "Anthropic - Acme Corp")
  5. Enter the API key for that account
  6. Repeat for each company account

Assign Default Companies

  1. Click each Anthropic provider
  2. Click Edit
  3. Set the Default Company
  4. Save

All costs from that provider will attribute to that company.

Option 2: Single Account with Default

If you use one Anthropic account for everything:

  1. Connect your Anthropic account
  2. Set the default company to your primary company
  3. All costs will attribute to that company

Limitation: You won't be able to break down costs by individual companies.

When Anthropic Adds Projects

Anthropic may add a project or workspace feature in the future. When they do, Administrate.dev will sync these automatically, similar to how OpenAI projects work.
