How often do syncs run?
Workflow syncs run hourly to pick up new or renamed workflows. Execution syncs run every 5 minutes to capture new runs and failures. You can trigger manual syncs anytime for immediate updates.
What causes sync failures?
Common causes: expired or revoked API keys, n8n instance unreachable (server down, network issues), rate limiting if you have very high execution volumes, or API changes in n8n. The error message will indicate the specific cause.
What happens when a sync fails?
The instance is marked with an error status and the error message is saved. You can see it on the Sync Health page. If you have webhooks configured, you'll receive a notification. The next scheduled sync will retry automatically.
Can I pause syncs for maintenance?
Not currently as a built-in feature, but you can temporarily change or remove the API key for an instance if you need to stop syncs during maintenance. The instance will show as never synced until you restore the key.
Is there a way to see sync history?
Yes. Each instance shows its last 10 sync runs with type (workflows or executions), status, duration, records created/updated, and any error message. This helps you spot patterns in sync failures.
How do I know if my data is fresh?
Check the 'Last synced' timestamp for each instance on the Sync Health page. If it's within the last 5 minutes for executions or 1 hour for workflows, your data is current. Any issues will show an error status.
