How are errors categorized?
We analyze error messages and HTTP status codes to categorize errors automatically. Auth errors (401/403), rate limits (429), network issues (timeouts, DNS failures), upstream errors (5xx), data validation problems, and workflow logic errors each get their own category. Unknown errors are grouped separately.
How quickly do errors appear?
Execution data syncs every 5 minutes by default. When a workflow fails in n8n, you'll see it in Administrate within minutes. You can also trigger a manual sync for immediate updates.
Is sensitive data from error payloads stored?
No. Error payloads are sanitized before storage. We automatically strip fields containing authorization headers, API keys, passwords, tokens, and cookies. Large payloads are also truncated to prevent storage bloat.
Can I see which workflow caused an error?
Yes. Every error shows the workflow name, the n8n instance, and the client. You can click through to see the workflow's execution history or jump directly to n8n to investigate.
Does this work with n8n Cloud?
Yes. Administrate works with both self-hosted n8n and n8n Cloud. As long as you have API access, we can pull execution data and surface errors.
Can I get alerted when errors happen?
Yes. Set up webhooks to push error notifications to Slack, email, or any system that accepts webhooks. You can also configure alerts for specific clients or error types.
