Founded by Lourdes Agilan, GeoCited specializes in generative engine optimization (GEO) for managed service providers, IT services firms, and software development companies with 11 to 250 staff. The agency focuses on a specific problem: ensuring that businesses appear in AI-generated recommendations when potential buyers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Claude for vendor shortlists. Before launching GeoCited, Agilan built and sold software and digital products to more than 5,000 small businesses through his company Orosfort in Chennai. GeoCited's methodology centers on three stages: Sourced Prompt Discovery, Citation Gap Analysis, and Source Engineering. They identify the actual questions buyers ask AI by analyzing sales calls, reviews, Reddit threads, and industry forums. They then determine which web pages—often directories, "best of" lists, and discussion threads—inform AI responses and work to get clients mentioned on those third-party pages. The agency tracks performance through a proprietary metric called Share of Answer, which measures the percentage of buyer questions where AI systems name the client, tracked weekly across four platforms. The agency distinguishes itself through transparent, reproducible measurement. Every question in their tracking runs multiple times in fresh sessions, and clients receive the full question list on day one so they can verify results themselves. GeoCited has documented cases including getting a new domain into Google's AI Overview within 48 hours and achieving first-place ChatGPT citations when their pages are read by the AI. They offer a performance guarantee: if a client's Share of Answer hasn't improved by the end of the first quarter, the fourth month is free. Client involvement is minimal, requiring approximately two hours per month for copy approval and occasional client review requests.
